Welterweight Mike Swick will wait to make his return to the Octagon after David Mitchell was recently forced out of their matchup at "UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2" on Jan. 22. Swick hasn't fought since February as he continues to deal with an ongoing condition.

Mike SwickWelterweight Mike Swick will wait to make his return to the Octagon after David Mitchell was recently forced out of their matchup at “UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2″ on Jan. 22, Swick announced on Thursday.

“I got the call yesterday that David Mitchell backed out due to an injury and considering my current situation we opted to put off the fight all together,” Swick wrote on Facebook. “I have been dealing with with my esophageal condition this whole camp and its taken a toll on my body. I will need more time to seek better treatment to ensure I can compete at this level.”

Swick (14-4) hasn’t fought since falling to Paulo Thiago in February for back-to-back losses following four-straight wins.

UFC Fight Night 23 is headlined by lightweights Evan Dunham vs. Melvin Guillard and airs live on Spike from Fort Hood in Texas.
