Junior dos Santos has already earned the next shot at the UFC heavyweight title, but the heavy-handed Brazilian won't be sitting on the sidelines for six months or more to wait for injured champ Cain Velasquez to return.
Velasquez won’t return until the summer at the earliest as he recovers from a torn rotator cuff suffered in his October win over Brock Lesnar, but Dos Santos appears willing to put his shot on the line to stay active after last defeating Roy Nelson in August.
“He is not going to wait six months,” dos Santos’ manager Ed Soares told MMAWeekly.
No date or opponent has been set for dos Santos’ expected return.
