An injury to John Makdessi has opened the door for Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (15-3) to face “Relentless” Paul Taylor (11-6-1) at UFC on Versus 5 on August 14th. The UFC announced the fight today via Twitter. UFC on Versus 5 is headlined by a welterweight battle between Chris Lytle and Dan Hardy.

Cerrone is undefeated in the Octagon this year with wins over Paul Kelly and Vagner Rocha. The Greg Jackson-trained Cerrone is best known for his wars in the WEC with Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson. Fighting out of Walsall, England, Taylor is 1-1 in the Octagon since dropping to the lightweight division. Taylor was last seen at UFC 126, when he knocked out Gabe Ruediger in the second round.
UFC on Versus 5 is headlined by a welterweight battle between Chris Lytle and Dan Hardy, as well as a clash between top lightweight contenders Ben Henderson and Jim Miller. The event, which takes place in the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, will be the first the UFC has held in the state of Wisconsin.
