Ke$ha, Adam Lambert, Ne-Yo Have A Few Royal Wedding Gift Ideas

From 'guyliner' to American delicacies like Uncrustables, Kathy Griffin, Mike Posner and more tell us what they'd get Will and Kate.

What kind of wedding gift do you give the royal couple who has everything?

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is on Friday (April 29), so MTV News reached out to some of our favorite Hollywood celebrities — from Ke$ha to Adam Lambert. Fortunately, they had some solid ideas!

"I haven't met them, so it would be kind of awkward," the "Tik Tok" singer admitted to MTV News. "I might paint them something. Maybe I'll paint them a guitar."

Like Ke$ha, other celebs had suggestions that were from the heart, even if they weren't the most practical.

"I will go out on a limb and say these two individuals maybe haven't had Uncrustables before in their life. I would get them a strawberry Uncrustable," Mike Posner said about the pastry.

David Cook followed up on the all-American food idea. "I feel like they have everything except maybe they probably don't have an Applebee's gift card. I'll go [with an] Applebee's gift card," the "American Idol" alum said.

Other stars said they'd gift the British prince and soon-to-be-princess with an item they were personally best known for.

"I'd probably buy William some eyeliner," Lambert said. "He could do that, he could rock that look. I think."

Ne-Yo was more empathetic, saying he would give gifts that could help shield them from photographers and blend in with everyday people. "Three years' supply of sunglasses. Yeah, put them on. A bunch of baseball caps, throw those on, and try to move around like regular people," the singer said. "I can't imagine what it would be like having to live under that big of a magnifying glass your whole life ... and fake mustaches, that's what I'd give them."

Brooke Burke went the more traditional route, saying she would get Will and Kate a journal to record the big event. "I would ask them to really take the time to write down thoughts and phrases and wishes," Burke said. "And not really to lose sight of how they feel about each other now and to really hold on to that feeling."

Kathy Griffin had good intentions but the comedian couldn't resist a puke joke.

"If I had to get the royal couple a gift, I would get them the Royal Couple Vomit Bag, which someone sent me a photo of," Griffin told us. "So you can actually buy vomit bags with their image on it, and I think that that is an honor and I hope that they see it as such."

What would you give to William and Kate? Share your ideas in the comments section!

Gladiator Challenge To Be “Unleashed” At First–Ever MMA Event At Thunder Valley Casino

Gladiator Challenge (GC) owner Tedd Williams is proud to announce “Unleashed,” the first-ever mixed martial arts (MMA) event to take place at the world class Thunder Valley Casino Resort, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 27th.

This is a match made in heaven, as the hottest casino in all of California has partnered with the pioneers of the sport of MMA. This electrifying night of fight action will feature some of the top GC fighters, including several title-holders. In addition, as a special treat, MMA pioneer Don “The Predator” Frye is scheduled to make a special appearance. Fight fans will not want to miss this history-making night!

“We are extremely pleased and excited to bring the GC brand of MMA action to a locale like Thunder Valley Casino,” exclaimed Williams. “It’s a beautiful place, and I can’t wait to see the entertaining show the fighters put on there.”

“Unleashed” will showcase some of the best competitors Gladiator Challenge has to offer. Four top-shelf main events headline the card, including:

- A title match between the GC Super Heavyweight Champion, Rick Vardell, and MMA legend Dan “The Beast” Severn

- GC Middleweight Champion James “The Educator” Fanshier defending his strap against Chris Sheridan

- A GC Heavyweight Championship fight between title-holder Rob “Caveman” Jackson and fan favorite Deutsch Pu’u

- Recently-crowned GC Native American Light Heavyweight Champion Owen Rubio will put the title on the line in a rematch with former belt-holder Mike “Lil’ Bear” Johnson

The action will all take place at the Thunder Valley Casino, located at 1200 Athens Avenue in Lincoln, California. For more information on the Thunder Valley Casino, please visit http://www.thundervalleyresort.com/. Doors for “Unleashed” will open at 5:30 PM, with the first fight hitting at 7 PM. Tickets for this exciting event will be available through the Virtual Box Office at http://gc.vbotickets.com/. More information will be announced soon.

Rick Vardell (4-1) is one of the most popular fighters in Gladiator Challenge today. The GC Super Heavyweight Champion, Vardell has garnered a reputation for putting on brutal displays of power. A former world champion arm-wrestler, the 48 year-old last competed in the GC cage at “Royal Flush” in November of last year, where he avenged the only loss of his career with a 2nd-round TKO stoppage of Dan Quinn. The 6’4”, 265-pounder is a behemoth of a man that must be seen in action to be truly appreciated.

Dan “The Beast” Severn (99-18-7) is one of pioneers of MMA, and holder of over 100 recognized titles and championships. Simply put, Severn’s legacy in the sport has been cemented. He has locked horns with some of the best fighters in the world; the list is a virtual “who’s who” of the cage and the squared circle. Ken Shamrock, Mark Coleman, Royce Gracie, Oleg Taktarov, Tank Abbott, Jeremy Horn, Kimo, Pat Militech, Josh Barnett, Pedro Rizzo, and even Forrest Griffin have all tasted the fury of “The Beast.” But Severn is not done yet. Having conquered the worlds of amateur wrestling, pro wrestling, and mixed martial arts, “The Beast” is hungry for more. And now he wants the GC Super Heavyweight belt.

James “The Educator” Fanshier (18-11) recently returned from a nine-month hiatus from fighting to put his GC middleweight crown on the line against tough veteran Richard Blake. Blake put up a solid fight, but Fanshier was able to secure the victory with a 2nd-round armbar submission. One of the most experienced GC competitors ever, Fanshier holds a 14-5 record with the promotion. He has faced notable fighters such as Chris Leben, James Lee, Thomas “Wildman” Denny, Shannon Ritch, Joey Villasenor, Jeremiah Metcalf, Ronald Jhun, and Mike “The Joker” Guymon.

Rob “Caveman” Jackson (4-1) recently secured the Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Championship with a victory over grizzled veteran Ruben “Warpath” Villareal. The hotly-contested battle at the aptly-named “Warpath” event ended up in a split-decision in favor of the underdog “Caveman.” Jackson has won four of his five fights, all of them taking place in GC. Now, after shocking the California fight scene and taking the GC heavyweight belt, he’ll look to defend the strap for the first time.

Deutsch Pu’u (2-0), revered back in his home territory of American Samoa, Pu’u served in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan. While serving, he became a champion boxer, and was chosen to participate in the Army World Class Athletic Program. As a result, he was selected for the Olympic Games trials in 2003. This war hero did not only battle in the ring. He led men into battle many times, and was discharged honorably from the army after reaching the rank of Sergeant Major. Now a full-fledged MMA fighter, you’d be hard-pressed to find a competitor with more heart.

'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' Trailer Premieres

'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' Trailer Premieres

First sneak peek at Tom Cruise's fourth 'Mission' teases death-defying stunts.
By Kara Warner

If there is one thing we can count on from Tom Cruise in a "Mission: Impossible" movie, it is mind-blowing action and stunt sequences. From his first foray into the spy-tastic world of Ethan Hunt to his fourth, the upcoming "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," Cruise has been one-upping himself in the stunt category. And judging from the first official trailer, which was released Tuesday evening (June 28), his work on the fourth "Mission," directed by "The Incredibles" helmer Brad Bird, is no exception.

The trailer opens with the ominous words of Tom Wilkinson, whose character name we have yet to learn, essentially laying out the nuts and bolts of the plot.

"An hour ago, a bomb blew up the Kremlin," he says, as footage of the Kremlin blowing up appear onscreen. "The president has initiated Ghost Protocol, the entire IMF has been disavowed," he explains of Ethan Hunt's (Tom Cruise) spy organization. "Now, I've been ordered to take you to Washington where they will hang the Kremlin bombing on you and your team, unless you were to escape after assaulting Brandt and me," says Wilkinson, shown seated in a car with Brandt (played by Jeremy Renner) and Hunt. "But if any of your team is caught, they'll be branded as terrorists."

"So what happens now?" Hunt asks.

"Your mission, should you choose to accept it," Wilkinson begins, recalling the series' famous line before being cut off so he won't spoil the plot entirely (although, if were to guess, the mission is probably to prove his team's innocence in the Kremlin bombing). His words are followed by a series of quick cuts that showcase and introduce the various castmembers, potential villains, etc. Renner as Brandt, Paula Patton, a serious-looking Josh Holloway, Cruise as Hunt in a series of wardrobe changes ranging from dapper formal wear to more rugged leather.

Then we see snippets of those famous Cruise-brand action sequences: car chases, underwater escapes, machine-gun fire, hand-to-hand combat, lots of running, more fighting and martial arts, more running, and plenty of spy-associated breaking and entering, which all leads up to a potential character reveal about Brandt.

"Who are you really, Brandt?" Hunt asks, in a scene where the two characters apparently come to blows.

"We all have our secrets," Brandt responds. "Don't we, Ethan?"

Cue the famous bars of Lalo Schrifin's "Theme From Mission: Impossible," which plays over Hunt looking out over Dubai, standing on the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. This is followed by a quick cut to a previous scene wherein tech master Benji Dunn (played by Simon Pegg) shows Hunt how to use a pair of fancy gadget gloves, which we soon see help him scale the Burj.

"You're not going to make it!" Brandt yells to Hunt, who is climbing and jumping up and around the side of the building.

"You're not helping," Hunt says, before the final shot, which shows the superspy repelling away from the Burj with a rope, which he loses midair and looks to plummet to the ground. Fade to black and the film's official titling.

Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes, told MTV News recently that she was privy to a sneak peek of the film and that it's "amazing." "The movie is going to be very cool and intense and the best 'Mission' yet."

First-time live-action director Bird echoed Holmes' sentiments, adding that Cruise did a lot of the craziest and most dangerous stunts himself.

"It's big and it is crazy," he said. "I think the craziest thing is that [the stunts] are real they're not digital. That's Tom Cruise on the tallest building in the world, he's doing all that stuff," Bird said of Cruise's death-defying stunts. "People won't believe it, but we shot it in IMAX so it's there for everyone to see."

Check out everything we've got on "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

Beyonce Shrugs Off 'Fear' In 'Year Of 4'

'I've never been afraid to fall,' she says in the special, which debuted Thursday on MTV.

It's a good time to be Beyonc. The singer just released her latest album, 4, and fans were taken behind the scenes of its completion in the special "Beyonc: Year of 4," which debuted Thursday (June 30) on MTV.

The intimate special opens with black-and-white footage of the singer swimming. "I'm always happy when I'm surrounded by water," she says. "I think I'm a mermaid or I was a mermaid. The ocean makes me feel really small, and it puts my whole life into perspective. ... It humbles you and it grounds you and it makes me feel almost like I've been baptized. Am I the same Beyonc? Absolutely not."

The special is footage of B's life, complete with montages of the frenzy surrounding her: Video shoots, rehearsals, studio time and photo shoots all pepper her life as she prepares to release her fourth solo studio effort. However, she is quick to point out that, before she got back to work, she needed to decompress in a major way.

"After I finished the last tour, I was a bit overwhelmed and overworked, and my mother was the person that preached to me ... 'You really need to live your life and open your eyes and you don't want to wake up with no memories,' " she explained.

Beyonc shows what she did on her off-time, which included playing aunt and wife. "I was able to spend time with my family and pick my nephew up from school, and it gave me time to reflect," she said.

In that reflection time, Beyonc made a major business decision: Her father, Mathew Knowles, would no longer serve as her manager. While explaining the decision, fans are taken back in time thanks to vintage video of the Knowles family. "A real change meant separating from him," she said. "It was scary, but it empowered me, and I wasn't going to let fear stop me."

Fans are once again on Beyonc's whirlwind world tour as she continues work on her album. "I am a workaholic, and I don't believe in 'no,' " she said. "If I'm not sleeping, nobody's sleeping."

"My focus is not bigger; it's quality, and I want to make sure it's something I'm proud of years from now," she says later on. "It's very difficult managing myself. Every night when I go to sleep, I ask hundreds of questions. I'm making mistakes, and I'm learning from them. I've never been afraid to fall — and I say all these things, but now I'm being tested."

As the special closes, Beyonc shoots her "Run the World (Girls)" video and continues work on her album, including meetings with record executives. It all ends with B swimming once again, as she says, "I'm learning to drown out the noise. I only have to follow my heart. I run my world."

What did you think of Beyonc behind-the-scenes world? Let us know in the comments!

Audrina Patridge, Ke$ha, Adam Lambert Share Prom Memories

'Me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m.,' Ke$ha tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena

It's prom season, and that means high schoolers across this great land will be renting tuxes, buying fancy dresses and negotiating the details of their curfews with parents. So, before you take your pictures and get in your limos, we asked some Hollywood A-listers to recall their fondest prom memories.

"I had a great prom," Ne-Yo told MTV News. "I didn't get to go with who I wanted to go with. I got my second choice, but my second choice turned out to be the one I was supposed to be there with, so it turned out good."

Ke$ha, never one to say no to a party, had the best night of all her friends. "I went to prom with my gay best friend, and let me tell you, I had way more fun than anybody else at a prom with their boyfriends," she recalled. "Everybody else was, like, crying and drama and breaking up, and me and my gay best friend just danced until 8 a.m."

"Hellcats" star Aly Michalka doesn't have a favorite prom memory — because she never went to prom. "I was homeschooled, so I don't even think we had a fake prom," she lamented. "Like, maybe we had a home-school prom and I wasn't invited?"

While everything always seems to be in peril on "The Vampire Diaries," star Nina Dobrev had a less tumultuous night: "Having everyone get together and such a final celebration [is what I remember]."

Romeo went big for his prom. "My senior prom, I remember I pulled up in my red Ferrari. I was feeling like James Bond," he said. "And it was one of the best nights of my life."

"My favorite prom memory was probably going shopping for a dress, and our boyfriends at the time dressed up as 'Dumb & Dumber,' " Audrina Patridge laughed. "And so we were like, 'We can't dress up dorky ... we have to look good.' "

Roots drummer ?uestlove made a big decision on the night of his prom: "June 2, 1989, was my very last haircut; prom haircut, totally butchered my hair. He butchered my hair, and I vowed never again to ever get in a barber chair, so I grew that Afro on my prom night."

Adam Lambert said his prom date was a 10, so he definitely had a fun night. "I had a great prom. I had an awesome time," he said. "I went with one of my best friends in high school. Her name was Lauren, and she was really hot. She wore a really hot red dress, so I felt like I had arm candy."

Share your prom memories in the comments below!

Britney Spears Drops Official 'Till The World Ends' Remix

Britney Spears Drops Official 'Till The World Ends' Remix

New track with Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha follows leaked version, plus Brit tweets single's cover art.
By Jocelyn Vena

The "Till the World Ends" Femme Fatale remix
Photo: Jive

Just days after it was leaked on Friday, Britney Spears and her femme fatales, Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha, dropped their official remix of "Till the World Ends."

The new version of the song was produced by Dr. Luke and Dream Machine. Brit half-whispers " 'Till the World Ends' remix" before the beat kicks in and Nicki hits her verse hard. She spits fierce lines like, "Sniff, sniff, cries/ I done slayed your whole entire f---ing life."

Then Britney's sex-kitten vocals kick in for the song's first verse. "That's Britney, bitch! I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha," the Queens MC declares before K sings the chorus. The beat is harder, the loops are sassier and the song is grimier than the original version, which was the second single from Femme Fatale. The newly added dubstep portion takes the one from "Hold It Against Me" to a new level by adding in bass-heavy synths.

Ke$ha, of course, wrote the track for Britney, and the ladies certainly don't seem to mind sharing the spotlight with each other. The official track isn't much different than the version that leaked over the weekend, though Spears did have something brand-new to share with her fans just as the song dropped on iTunes and streamed on her website.

Spears tweeted the artwork for the single, which features the original press photo of Spears along with separate photos of Nicki on the left and Ke$ha on the right. Spears wrote, "@NickiMinaj @Keshasuxx Too much fierceness for one cover! Thanks for lending your voices girls... #TTWEREMIX — Brit"

Spears and Minaj have been hanging out a lot in the lead-up to their summer tour. They hung out at the Factory nightclub on Friday night after Minaj's show in Los Angeles. Spears later wrote, "Early rehearsal after a late night with my girl @NickiMinaj. Can't WAIT to get out on the road with you."

Ke$ha Is Channeling 'Sexiness' Of '70s Rock For New Album

Ke$ha Is Channeling 'Sexiness' Of '70s Rock For New Album

Glitter-heavy pop star tells MTV News she's going for 'balls-out, irreverent rock and roll.'
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Matt Elias

Ke$ha
Photo: MTV News

Ke$ha's already got the face paint down pat, and, during recent live sets, she's even taken to guzzling blood out of a human heart, so it should come as no surprise that, on her upcoming album, the pop star is taking things back to the most theatrical era of rock: the prop-heavy, arena-spanning heyday of the 1970s.

Ke$h revealed her plans over the weekend in Los Angeles, on the red carpet of KIIS FM's annual Wango Tango concert, where she told MTV News that the follow-up to her breakout Animal album (and, we suppose, Cannibal too) would be heavy on hard riffs and light on pretty much everything else.

"The next album ... I've been working on writing on the road, but as far as a sound, I just know it's gonna be balls-out, irreverent rock and roll," she said. "I've been pretty much in this '70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that's just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f---, so we'll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it."

So, does that mean that fans can expect the likes of Alice Cooper or Peter Frampton to show up on her new album? Perhaps. Because while Ke$ha's new album is still a ways off, she's already begun calling in favors, hoping to line up a killer collabo for the new disc.

"I'm trying, trust me," she laughed. "I really would love to connect with one of my idols, I mean, that's my dream. I'm working on it."

What do you think of Ke$ha going rock for her next album? Tell us in the comments!

Which is better: LG Optimus V or Motorola Triumph android phone

Which is better: LG Optimus V or Motorola Triumph android phone

I do get a lot of hits in regards to this question: which is better the LG Optimus V or Motorola Triumph android phone. There are 3 areas that I can think of to compare the differences. They are the hardware, software and price.

The hardware difference includes a larger screen size for the Triumph, a faster processor for the Triumph, extra phone memory for the Triumph, and an extra hdmi output for the Triumph. Clearly, the winner in the hardware category is the Triumph.

The software will be identical between the two when they come out as of today. Both will be on the Froyo android 2.2 operating system. This will be a draw between the two phones.

Price wise, right now you can buy an LG Optimus V for as low as $120 brand new on amazon. The predicted price for the Motorola Triumph is $299. The difference is $179 for the extra hardware difference (plus expect to pay a premium if you want to get it first). I would have to say the hardware upgrades on the Triumph is not enough to beat the value priced LG Optimus V. The winner is the LG Optimus in the price category.

All this is subjective, so no worries if you don’t agree with me. I am just expressing my beliefs. Of course my opinion can change once the actual Motorola Triumph is released.

6 things mainlanders like to do in Hong Kong

Since Hong Kong returned to China on July 1, 1997 Hongkongers have gradually become indifferent, if not exactly welcoming, to the burgeoning number of mainland visitors and immigrants in Hong Kong, who have contributed so much to the city's GDP.

Mainlanders have long been regarded as Hong Kong’s favorite customers. They arrive in groups with empty suitcases and extended shopping lists. They go home with too many shopping bags to carry, maxed-out credit cards and a bunch of new Gucci, Prada and LV items.

Gladiator Challenge To Be “Unleashed” At First–Ever MMA Event At Thunder Valley Casino

'Transformers 3' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

'Transformers 3' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Before watching 'Dark of the Moon,' check out our handy guide.
By Eric Ditzian

Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
Photo: Paramount

Before the second "Transformers" even hit theaters, director Michael Bay was already saying no to a third installment — or at least one that would hit theaters in 2011. It was back in February 2009, a full three months before the release of "Revenge of the Fallen," that Bay said there was no way he'd helm a third "Transformers" flick (later titled "Dark of the Moon") and get it into multiplexes little more than two years later.

"I would like to take a year off," he told us at the time.

But whaddya know? Bay not only ended up agreeing to whipping together the 3-D flick in time for this year's Independence Day weekend, but Paramount ended up shifting the release to June 29 (June 28, if you count the many 9 p.m. showings). How did we get to this point? To understand that transformation — to learn everything there is to know — we'll have to travel back to mid-2009: Hop aboard our "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" cheat sheet:

Reworking the Bay-hem
By October 2009, coming off the poorly reviewed but $836 million-grossing "Revenge of the Fallen," Bay had cleared up the release date issues and announced that preproduction on the next film had begun. Increasingly, it appeared as though the new movie would be the first "Transformers" to get a 3-D release. "We're literally in the middle of that. There's no definitive answer," producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told us about the chance for 3-D.

But the news about 3-D took a backseat to a rather shocking casting move in May: Megan Fox would not be returning to the franchise. She and Bay had previously shared a contentious creative partnership (remember when she compared him to Hitler and he called her immature?), but suddenly the two had parted ways. Possible replacements for Fox included Brooklyn Decker and Gemma Arterton, but the job eventually went to Victoria's Secret model, and Hollywood newbie, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

"I think there's positives and negatives to her not being [in the movie]," LaBeouf told us about Fox. "It's awesome that we get the discovery again. I think when everybody's vetted and everybody's been through these wars, then that discovery of the first film is nonexistent. It's kind of beautiful in that we get a new set of eyes, a fresh set of eyes for the audience to vibe with. So you get the discovery again, which is something that wouldn't happen if Megan came back."

New "Moon"
Filming kicked off on the still-untitled film last summer. It wouldn't be until the fall that it officially got a title. And the reason for that moniker wouldn't become clear until December, when the film's teaser trailer popped up online. It didn't feature LaBeouf or Huntington-Whiteley — or any of the stars, for that matter — but it did make clear the story would be tied into the Apollo 11 moon landing.

The trailers that followed, one 30-second spot during the Super Bowl and a second official trailer that dropped April 28, didn't help explain the film's storyline any further, but did continue to tease Bay's famous action sequences and the new gorgeous girl.

About That New Girl ...
Speaking of the lady in question, who admitted recently she thought she bombed her initial audition, Huntington-Whiteley's co-stars Tyrese Gibson and LaBeouf assured us that the first-time actress has a lot more going on than just a pretty face.

"Rosie is going to surprise a lot of people," Gibson said. "I have to go on record and say that she did not replace Megan Fox. She's a brand-new character; her name is Carly in the movie."

"She completely owns her sexuality," LaBeouf added. "Which I think helps, especially on a movie like this where it's a blanket summer movie and there are certain requirements of a woman in a summer movie."

Rising to Meet Technical Challenges
Director Bay entered new territory on this third installment by doing away with his preconceived notions and shooting the film in 3-D, which, according to him, forced him to deal with a whole new set of filming challenges.

"It's hard with my style of shooting and taking [a camera] and strapping it to guys who are skydiving off buildings and helmet cams," he said. "It's a technical nightmare. You don't even want to tell your viewers how technically complicated this stuff is."

On the other side of the technical spectrum is the amount of wirework required of the actors for the various stunts and action sequences. The specifics behind why the wirework proved to be so difficult, aside from the obvious hanging around, became very clear when LaBeouf, Gibson and Huntington-Whiteley offered a detailed (and highly entertaining) explanation of the various body parts that get pinched during the process.

"Yeah, I don't like the wires," LaBeouf admitted to MTV News. "Really, you can ask any man."

"All the things cut into the wrong places, put pressure on the wrong bits," Huntington-Whiteley added. "Whatever it does to a man, it also does to a woman."

"Thank God I have a bigger ass so when you put the harness on, the ass is able to help you stay away from the front part," Gibson explained. "It kind of balances things out a little bit. When your ass is flat and you have to have it going over the front, it is a bad day in America."

Check out everything we've got on "Transformers: Dark of the Moon."

Britney Spears' 'I Wanna Go' Director Breaks Down Cheeky Clip

Britney Spears' 'I Wanna Go' Director Breaks Down Cheeky Clip

Chris Marrs Piliero explains the video's 'Half Baked' and 'Terminator' homages, but what about those elusive seashells?
By Kara Warner

Britney Spears' video for "I Wanna Go" — a dream-sequence-y, pop-culture-reference-packed tongue-in-cheek attack on the paparazzi — is so fun, it's quickly becoming one of our favorites. And because we can't get enough of it, MTV News sought out the vid's creative mastermind, director Chris Marrs Piliero (who also directed Ke$ha's "Blow"), to explain it to us, frame by frame.

"This opening scene poked fun at the ridiculous rumors that surround Britney," Piliero said of the clip's opening press conference, during which Britney tells off a room of reporters. "That is our homage to 'Half Baked.' I was really stoked that we were able to include that little parody homage in the video and that Guillermo Diaz, who is the guy [in the scene] giving the thumbs up, is from the movie."

After strutting out of the press conference and squeezing the butt of an autograph-seeking fan (played by one of her dancers), Spears strolls down the street, passing by a baby in a stroller who whistles at her.

"We were actually going to have three babies," Piliero revealed. "But the other two were just crying and crying. and I was like, 'F--- it, get 'em outta there.' And the one baby, he ruled and was supercute, so we went with him."

Spears' next saucy move is to flash a bunch of guys on the street: a young boy, his dad, a male driver getting a ticket and the cop writing it.

"That little kid was awesome," Piliero said of the young redheaded boy. "If you look closely, he's actually squeezing his juice box all over this shirt. The cop is another one of Britney's dancers. You might recognize him from the 'Hold It Against Me' video, he had blue hair."

Next up, Spears encounters a paparazzo on the street and grabs his camera and throws it to the ground.

"That was a very genuine performance from Britney," Piliero said of the scene. "I felt like she was letting out her inner emotion toward paparazzi. It was also really cold. I think she just went for it."

Cut to Spears on top of a taxi, microphone in hand with a long cord, which she uses to take out the various photographers who have surrounded her.

"A lot of people think this was inspired by 'Kill Bill,' because I'm a huge Quentin Tarantino fan. I would totally own up to that if it was true," he admitted. "But I actually intended for her to always having her performance with the microphone [throughout the video] for her performance setup, so I thought that was a good way to tie it all together and I didn't want to give her a real weapon."

But Piliero was making an intentional pop-culture reference with the wording on the movie theater marquee in the background of the scene that reads "Crossroads 2: Cross Harder." "I've always thought that 'Die Hard 2: Die Harder' is one of the most ridiculously awesome titles for a sequel," he said. "And I needed to put something in the marquee, and I thought it would be a really fun Easter egg for fans."

Now something odd happens with the paparazzi who've been hit by Spears' microphone weapon — they are revealed to be robots or androids. "I love pop culture and this whole video is kind of a dream sequence," Piliero said. "I think it's natural to have fantasies and dreams with stuff inspired by pop culture, so that's why the robot guys kind of have a 'Terminator'-ish feel."

Before the "Terminator" 'bots can move in on Spears, Diaz drives up in a sports car and whisks her away, where he celebrates by pouring a carton of milk all over himself.

"Guillermo kills it in the scene with the milk, he's hilarious," Piliero enthused. "And I love Britney's reaction there; both her reactions where she's laughing are so good. A lot of people ask about the milk and what the deal with it is, a lot of people have theories too. I don't need to say what the point is, because I love hearing what people say, so I'll leave it at that. Same goes with the seashells too."

Cut to the final scene, where we realize that it was all a dream. Spears is at the press conference, shaken out of a daze when Guillermo steps in and tells the reporters, "No more questions," then hands Spears a handful of those seashells that Piliero won't explain. He looks back at the camera at the last moment and we see his eyes are robot red, an obvious nod to Michael Jackson's zombie-green eyes in the last shot of "Thriller."

" 'Thriller' is one of my favorite music videos ever," Piliero said. "I remember watching it when I was 5, that was what inspired me to become a music video director so I wanted to pay homage to it."

What do you think the milk and the seashells signify in "I Wanna Go"? Share your theories in the comments below.

Nate Marquardt Says Testosterone Therapy to Blame for UFC Release

Nate Marquardt Says Testosterone Therapy to Blame for UFC Release
Arguably the UFC's most controversial story of the year finally has an explanation. Former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt said Tuesday that elevated testosterone levels from hormone replacement therapy were to blame for his removal from UFC on Versus 4 and subsequent firing by UFC President Dana White.

Arguably the UFC’s most controversial story of the year finally has an explanation. Former UFC middleweight contender Nate Marquardt said Tuesday on MMAFighting’s “MMA Hour” with Ariel Helwani that elevated testosterone levels from hormone replacement therapy were to blame for his removal from UFC on Versus 4 and subsequent firing by UFC President Dana White.

On Saturday, Marquardt was removed from his main event slot against Rick Story, which was set to be his welterweight debut for the promotion and replaced by Charlie Brenneman, who went on to upset Story in the co-main event after Cheick Kongo vs. Pat Barry was promoted to headline. Withing the hour, White announced on Twitter that Marquardt would no longer be fighting for the UFC and significant speculation has since taken place regarding the reason for Marquardt’s departure.

On Tuesday, Marquardt spoke candidly about the previous week’s activities, inclusing having his license denied by Pennsylvania after his testosterone levels failed to return to normal by Saturday following a recent hormone treatment.

“I was not medically cleared because of a situation I’ve been dealing with since August,” Marquardt said. “Last year, I was feeling sluggish and my memory had gone out the window. I was irritable. I knew something was wrong. I felt like I was over-training when that wasn’t the case.”

Marquardt went on to fight Rousimar Palhares at a UFC Fight Night event in Austin, Texas in September, then challenged Yushin Okami at UFC 122 in Germany for the #1 contender position in the middleweight division in November.

Not until his fight with Dan Miller at UFC 128 in New Jersey in March did Marquardt experience any issues from an athletic commission concerning his medical license.

“I got the fight with Dan Miller in New Jersey, where I applied for a therapeutic use exemption,” said Marquardt. “They came back and said they would let me fight this fight, but they wanted to make sure that I needed the treatment. They said my doctor submitted paperwork that seemed incomplete”

With approval from the New Jersey State Athletic Commission, Marquardt was required to stop undergoing treatments for eight weeks to verify that his regular testosterone were levels were naturally low, thus requiring the medication he was taking. During this eight week window, Marquardt signed to fight Anthony Johnson at UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh on June 26th.

Three weeks before the scheduled fight, Marquardt’s doctor advised he take a testosterone shot to boost his once again low testosterone levels.
Following this shot, Marquardt repeatedly took blood tests to check on his testosterone levels, with each one above the range that Pennsylvania would allow for him to fight. While his levels were decreasing, they were still not within the legal limit.

Once it was obvious that he would not pass the required blood test, the PSAC suspended Marquardt, thus not allowing him to fight the following day. Marquardt stated that a blood test he took the following day when he had been scheduled to fight was indeed within the limits for which he would have been allowed to fight. He hinted that Commissioner Greg Sirb will be lifting his suspension, as he has essentially met all requirements for him to be able to fight.

Speculation arose that the reason for Marquardt’s withdrawal was due to his weight cut to 170 pounds. That was disputed by his own camp immediately, citing a video that NBC Sports had recorded throughout the day of weigh-ins, which showed that Marquardt was already at the weight limit of 171 pounds.

Following his suspension and release from the UFC, will Marquardt abandon the new weight class before his first fights at 170?

“I’ll definitely still be at 170 pounds” Marquardt replied. “If my levels weren’t elevated in the first place, the weight cut wouldn’t have made the test higher. I just want to get past this situation right now, get off suspension, let the dust settle and go from there.”

Britney Spears Fights Cyborg Paparazzi In 'I Wanna Go' Video

Chris Marrs Piliero-directed clip features 'Weeds' actor Guillermo Diaz.
By Jocelyn Vena

Britney Spears in her "I Wanna Go" music video
Photo: Jive

Britney Spears proved her comedic chops on the small screen in her cameo on "How I Met Your Mother," and now she's once again displaying her funny bone in the video for "I Wanna Go," which dropped Wednesday (June 22).

Like he did with Ke$ha before, director Chris Marrs Piliero makes off-kilter pop culture references and pokes fun at the idea of the sexy pop star. There's a number of Spears-related references, including a polka dot bikini top as an homage, perhaps, to Minnie Mouse, her skull-wearing Mickey Mouse ears T-shirt and a movie theater marquee that reads "Crossroads 2: Cross Harder."

Spears has touched on her relationship with the media in the past, but perhaps not with this much humor or self-deprecation.

The video opens with a press conference, where reporters ask the superstar crazy questions such as, "Is it true you banned junk food, smiles, candy, sunshine and laughter from your Femme Fatale Tour?" The answer: Yes, obviously.

"Can you confirm reports that you're pregnant with Brad Pitt's love child?" The answer: "That is false: It's quintuplets."

Eventually annoyed by the onslaught of increasingly dumb questions, Britney declares, "F--- you" to the reporters in the room. The only person who passes the test is "Weeds" and "Half Baked" star Guillermo Diaz, who is hanging out, wearing a hat that only the Burger King could love. She then dashes out onto the streets in her Avril Lavigne-worthy, pop-punk princess finest.

It seems Britney has decided to live life on her own terms. She grabs the bum of an autograph-seeking fan. Then, she flashes a group of men, and as a cop tries to arrest her, she has her way with him right there on the street. Britney just doesn't care anymore, and why should she? She's finally having fun.

Britney displays the sass and charm fans fell in love with a decade ago during performance shots, where she flirts with the camera, her eyes as big and wide as her smile.

Fans are back with her as she makes her way around town and, of course, the paparazzi have found her. For one photographer, she gives an impromptu fashion shoot before smashing his camera. And when she finds herself surrounded by more of his cronies, she takes them out one by one with any singer's best weapon: her microphone.

There's a surprising turn, however: As the mic slams itself against the photogs, pulling the skin off their bodies, it reveals that they are cyborgs, much to Brit's dismay. So, what's a girl to do?

She's rescued by Guillermo, who drives her through the desert. She dances in the car, wearing only a bikini top and miniskirt. And just when she thinks she's safe, it's revealed that he too is a cyborg. Can't Brit ever catch a break?

The video returns to the press conference, where the pop star awakes from a daydream and reveals, "Guillermo, I had the strangest dream."

"I love dreams," he tells her. "And seashells," he says, placing several in her hand. "Come on, let's get out of here."

But, is Britney truly safe with Guillermo? In an homage to the final frame of Michael Jackson's classic "Thriller" video, the clip closes with Diaz turning his head toward the camera to reveal his red, glowing robot eyes.
