“I haven’t arrived in Shanghai yet,” says reclusive Tokyo studio boffin Katsuhiko Maeda, better known to his fans across the globe as World’s End Girlfriend (WEG). “But I think the city of Shanghai and the music I make have something in common -- a shared Asian chaos.”
With nearly 20 releases under his belt since 2000, Maeda is as prolific as he is talented.
His music draws influence from the classical LPs his father had around the house when Maeda was small, but rammed through 1,000 volts of computer wizardry and layered with delicate blankets of guitar and sometimes lurching beats.
